Período silente cutáneo

Resumen

La evaluación electrofisiológica de pacientes en los cuales se sospecha afección medular (mielopatía, tumores, etc), se circunscribe prácticamente a la utilización de potenciales evocados. Los estudios electrofisiológicos convencionales (VCN y EMG), no tienen un papel importante en dicha evaluación.
Sin embargo, en los últimos años ha aparecido una técnica denominada período silente cutáneo, cuya obtención es sencilla, demanda poco tiempo, se puede hacer en cualquier equipo de electromiografía y podría ser útil en los pacientes mencionados.
Se presenta el caso de una paciente al cual se le practicó esta técnica y se hace una revisión de esta y de su utilidad en diferentes afecciones medulares y de otro tipo.
