Documentary analysis of the professional skills of the sports physical therapist

Introduction: Taking into account the physiotherapist competencies proposed by the different entities that regulate whether the national or international Physical Therapist professional practice, 7 professional competencies are proposed, of which 5 are specific to the sports area.
Methods: Different databases and bibliographic sources are used for the literature review, including publications taken between 2000 and 2016 for the professional competencies in Sports Physiotherapy.
Results: 92 documents were found, of which 17 were considered to meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. From there, 7 professional competencies of Sports Physiotherapist were identified and defined, divided into transversal and specific ones.
Conclusion: This study proposes 7 skills for the professional Physiotherapist in the sports area, being this a basis for future research that allows the validation and later unification of concepts in all professional fields.
