Abstract

Objectives: to evaluate the therapeutic response of patients with mechanical back pain treated with osteopathy, determining the
effects of this treatment on their quality of life.

Materials andmethods: we made an invitation to people over 18 years with back pain, available to meet the full treatment. We conducted a clinical evaluation of each patient to identify those with mechanical back pain. Each patientwas managed with five sessions of structural osteopathic medicine, applying to
them the Roland Morris and SF-36 questionnaires before and after treatment.

Results: twenty-six patients who had inclusion criteria, completed all five treatment sessions, and complete the test. The results of the Roland Morris test and all domains of the SF-36 test showed improvement after treatment.

Conclusion: osteopathic medicine is a useful alternative for the treatment of mechanical back pain, showing impact on quality of life of patients.
