Evolución electrofisiológica de pacientes con síndrome del túnel del carpo no tratados

Resumen

Objetivos: determinar la evolución electrofisiológica del síndrome del túnel del carpo (STC) en pacientes no tratados.

Métodos: entre enero y diciembre de 2009 se evaluaron 189 pacientes con STC que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión y se compararon estos resultados con los anteriores para determinar si desde el punto de vista electrofisiológico habían mejorado permanecían estables o habían empeorado.

Resultados: se evaluaron 189 pacientes de los cuales únicamente 114 (100 mujeres y 14 hombres) cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. Finalmente se compararon 178 manos que fueron el objeto del estudio final. El promedio entre estudios fue de 28,4 meses (rango: 7-122). Se encontró que 16 (9%) pacientes mejoraron, 109 (61,2%) permanecieron estables y 53 (29,8%) empeoraron.

Conclusión: alrededor de las dos terceras partes de los pacientes con STC no tratado permanecen estables desde el punto de vista electrofisiológico, la tercera parte restante empeora.
