Abstract

The development of assistive technology for disabled people allows to give solution to necessities, that even though they are not considered a priority to the health service providers, have a great influence to the patients’ quality of life. In this case of study two, 17 and 20 years old, people with spinal cord injury at level C4 and C3, and classification ASIA A, who expressed the necessity to recover independence in their entertainment activities, such as the management of their cellphones and the TV, are considered. Hence, it was decided to develop two dispositive that work as a remote controller for the television. For the design and development of technology, the methodology designed by Hans Gugelot was implemented, obtaining as result two electronic devices which work by pushing buttons and by voice commands, that accomplished with their function and which are considered low cost due to their price (75 USD).
