Abstract

Based on the conceptual model proposed in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), specifically in itschildren and adolescents’ version, it is proposed that programs and services for the pediatric population with disabilities include different dimensions, particularly aspects related to participation, the elimination of barriers and frameworks that focus on function and independence in the child’s daily activities. Based on this premise and on the recommendations of different authors. El Comité de Rehabilitación de Antioquia, in the city of Medellín - Colombia, has been implementing a care model that has as itscore the achievement of independence in the activities of dailylife and the promotion of participation. This paper presents the programs that have been derived from this model. The current pandemic due to COVID - 19 and the quarantine in the country have revealed the importance of telerehabilitation, the defense of the rights of children with disabilities, and care models that are centered on the family and the context. This article also presents a proposed agenda that allows transforming the models of pediatric rehabilitation care and that takes into account the learning that has been generated during this period of health emergency due to Covid-19.
