Abstract

Objective. To carry out a review of the literature on rehabilitation in children in times of the Covid-19 pandemic, synthesizing the recommendations set forth by international consensus documents and recent bibliography. Also, to expose the way in which these recommendations can be applied from tele-rehabilitation in the form of a multidisciplinary protocol.

Materials and methods. A bibliographic search of the existing literature and international consensus focused on the area of diagnosis, clinical presentation and rehabilitation in children during the Covid-19 pandemic was carried out, from January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2020, in the Pubmed, Science Direct, Clinical Key, Embase and Ovid databases. Later, guidelines were given regarding these recommendations to be implemented in the tele-rehabilitation modality.

Results. A total of 471 items were found and 34 of them met the inclusion criteria.

Conclusions. Child rehabilitation seeks to decrease the activity limitation and improve the participation in all environments, due to the current pandemic, the  need for confinement has led to a large part of rehabilitation to be carried out at home through technological aids known as tele-rehabilit ation. We must not forget that this treatment must be interdisciplinary, focusing on the prevention of problems in the medium and long term; the impact of Covid-19 is still uncertain and rehabilitation should not stop, because the goal is to provide the tools for maximum functionality of all children.
