Abstract

The present concept of cardiac rehabilitation did not arise of fast form nor it has been accepted with the facility that would suppose the logic given the benefits demonstrated of the physical activity for several centuries. In 1957 Hellerstein and Ford, in the United States spoke for the first time about the components and aspects of the cardiac rehabilitation with that today we contemplated; in 1963 the World Health Organization in Geneva recommended the programs of physical activity through the cardiac rehabilitation, and defined the objectives as we know them nowadays. In the Seventies the cardiac rehabilitation begins to take a multidisciplinary turn and in 1985 the American School of Cardiology approved the cardiac
rehabilitation programs (1 ,2). At the moment the cardiac rehabilitation programs are implemented in most of the cardiological hospitable centers of the world, nevertheless in the countries in via of development is a practice that not yet has been disclosed with the force is need in answer to the results the programs offer. In Colombia the registered data have been reporting some few pioneering Programs of Cardiac Rehabilitation in the country worked for more than 20 years.
This study must like objective know and describe the present situation of the existing Programs of cardiac rehabilitation in the different cities of the country, which represents the first passage in the search of an intersectorial work that allows to
optimize the implementation of such in benefit of the patients, the doctors, the health institutions and the money destined to health in our country.
