Abstract

Introduction: Lumbar disc disease is the one of the most common diagnosis of occupational origin in our environment, and represents one of the reasons for having extended care in medical care derives from its condition. It causes disability and in turn generates large costs in handling as pathology and thus their rehabilitation.

Objective: To analyze welfare benefits received by patients with lumbar disc disease who already have defined percentage loss of working capacity.

Methodology: In retrospect, was a review of medical records, measuring the total score and each of their items evaluated. These results were analyzed to determine which are the most common demands that patients have regarding medical care benefits.

Results: Patients with lumbar disc disease continually require specialized medical care, as well as studies of images and electrodignòstico, are the main demands regarding drugs, monitoring controls and disabilities. The physiatrist who gives management greater number of times these patients and found that patients with lumbar radiculopathy and those who have been taken to surgery are the most demand services.

Conclusion: This study showed that although lumbar disc disease patients qualified as an occupational disease, and have definition of pcl and even found Reiter continue to demand labor services to their labor risk insurers, which leads to increased expenditure. Besides, they are not only medical consultations and disabilities, but also diagnostic studies, and polypharmacy.
