Importance of certified training in oncological rehabilitation in Colombia

This article of analysis and perspective seeks to locate in the epidemiological panorama of cancer, both worldwide and in Colombia, the implications that this disease has regarding the risk of disability; in addition, it aims to establish how, from the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation with an emphasis on oncology, comprehensive care of the patient with cancer can be guaranteed under the holistic view of the person. On the other hand, this study describes theimportance of the fact that different health disciplines have knowledge in
physical medicine and rehabilitation, taking into account the recommendations of experts from other latitudes, as well
as the legislation in Colombia. Likewise, the higher education institutions that train specialists in rehabilitation and the
rotation time in oncological rehabilitation in Colombia are presented in a broad manner, and, finally, a list of the lines of action or services that should be provided in a cancer rehabilitation center is shown.
